FAQs What to do with Extra Apples

What can I do with a lot of apples?

As you can see in this article, we have a lot of recipes where you can use apples. It can be a main dish, a dessert, or even a jam. We love to try all sorts of recipes and have tried everything from dried apples to juicing apples. And some days, it’s best to just eat the apples.

What is the best way to store apples?

You can always keep apples on your kitchen counter if you plan to eat them within the week. We recommend putting them in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator where they can keep fresh for a month or more. If you can wrap them individually in newspaper or a paper towel you will help prevent mold from growing between them.

Can you freeze apples?

Yes, you can! Apples can be frozen for six to nine months. You’ll want to wash, peel, and core your apples, then slice them thick (we like using this apple slicer).

Give the apples a nice soak in lemon water (4 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice). Drain them out in a colander and wait about 30 minutes.

Line a pan with parchment paper, then add the sliced apples to the pan before placing them in the freezer.

Let them freeze for 2 to 8 hours before transferring them to an air-tight container (we like using a large zipper storage bag, but make sure to get rid of excess air). Now you have apples to last you for months!
